Eintracht Frankfurt manager Adi Hütter has spoken positively about the work of sporting director Markus Krösche following the closure of the transfer window. Hütter expressed his satisfaction and his thoughts on the upcoming home match against FC Augsburg on Friday. Frankfurt started the season with a 1-1 draw and sits in 11th place in the Bundesliga table with one point.
How satisfied is Adi Hütter with the squad?
In the press conference ahead of the Augsburg match, Adi Hütter emphasized his satisfaction with the recent transfer business. The manager said: "I am very, very happy." He was explicitly referring to the signings of goalkeeper Noah Atubolu and defender Lilian Brassier. Hütter knows Brassier from his time in France and described him as "strong in duels with a warrior mentality".
The manager acknowledged that there can be different ideas between him and the sporting director. "The manager has ideas, the sporting director has ideas," Hütter said peacefully. The transfer window ended for Eintracht only in the early hours of last Wednesday with the departure of Jean-Mattéo Bahoya to Leeds United. In total, there were 38 transfer movements at the Bundesliga club.
What role does Ritsu Doan play?
Special praise from the manager went to forward Ritsu Doan. The Japanese international turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia to stay in Frankfurt. "I find that admirable," Hütter said about this decision. Doan therefore remains an important option for the attacking wide positions, which Hütter described as well-stocked overall.
The Austrian also sees the defensive midfield as well-equipped. However, the injuries to Ansgar Knauff and Jessic Ngankam, who are listed on the current injuries page, present challenges for the team. Hütter will have to rely on alternatives like Can Uzun or the young Malik Pimpong.
How is Hütter planning the attack against Augsburg?
For the forward line, Hütter is initially relying on the established players. The hoped-for return of Arnaud Kalimuendo did not materialize, but the two main strikers Jonathan Burkardt and Younes Ebnoutalib are fit. "And as long as they are fit, you can just let them run," the manager explained pragmatically.
Should the two-striker system not hold up, several options remain. Hütter named Can Uzun, Ansgar Knauff or Malik Pimpong as possible substitutes. Another alternative would be a system with just one striker. This flexibility could be important against an Augsburg opponent from whom Hütter expects "no surprising ideas".
What is Eintracht's situation ahead of the next match?
The team has scored three goals and conceded the same number so far this season. In the table, they are five points behind leaders SC Freiburg. The next match is on 12 September 2026 away at FSV Mainz 05. Mainz currently occupies 12th place in the standings.
