Eintracht Frankfurt could lose a key player this summer. BVB's sporting director Ole Book has set his sights on defender Elias Baum. The 20-year-old is high on Borussia Dortmund's wishlist, according to „Sky“. Baum, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at SV Elversberg, could join the Bundesliga runners-up if Yan Couto leaves the club.
Who is Elias Baum and why is BVB interested?
Elias Baum is a versatile full-back who can play on both sides. The Frankfurt native came through Eintracht Frankfurt's youth ranks and made 33 second-tier appearances for SV Elversberg last season, scoring three goals and providing five assists. In the Bundesliga, however, he only made five substitute appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt.
How would a move to BVB work?
Borussia Dortmund would first need to create space in their squad by offloading Yan Couto. According to „Bild“, Como 1907 are interested, but no deal has been agreed yet. If Couto leaves, Baum could get a chance at the Black and Yellows. The Dortmund squad planner already knows Baum from his time at Elversberg.

Eintracht Frankfurt could adjust their transfer plans if Baum leaves. According to „Bild“, the club had been interested in Anton Gaaei from Ajax Amsterdam, but the deal has stalled as Baum impressed new head coach Adi Hütter. The wing-back is expected to get more playing time next season. Eintracht Frankfurt finished the 2025 season in 7th place with 42 points from 29 games (11 wins, 9 draws, 9 losses).
