Eintracht Frankfurt signs defensive midfielder but defensive issues remain
Eintracht Frankfurt has signed Noel Aseko as a defensive midfielder and could soon add Raphael Onyedika as a second. This would close one of the biggest gaps in the squad. However, defensive problems persist. Currently, only Robin Koch and Nnamdi Collins are available as center-backs. The Bundesliga side also needs reinforcements at full-back.
What about the defense?
Eintracht Frankfurt conceded 65 goals last season (2025), resulting in a negative goal difference of -4. With only two center-backs and gaps at full-back, the defense is a major concern. The last five games of the 2025 season ended in two draws and three losses (DDLLL).
Who else is coming?
In addition to defensive midfielders, Eintracht Frankfurt is also looking for defensive reinforcements. Changes in goal are also possible. Discussions in the FUSSBALL 2000 podcast show that the squad is far from complete.
What's next?
Eintracht Frankfurt faces a defensive overhaul. The last games of the 2025 season revealed weaknesses that need to be addressed in the new squad. With only 44 points and an 8th-place finish in the Bundesliga, the team must improve in the new season.
