Hütter will no 30-man squad
Eintracht Frankfurt Coach Adi Hütter announces squad decisions after the team's successful test match in Mannheim. The defense is currently only partially Bundesliga-ready.
The reason for this was given by the coach himself: "We had nine days in the training camp, which were also very intense." And yet, he has also seen good approaches. "I'm satisfied with the test. I liked that they tried to implement things that we trained", so his conclusion.
Defense not yet Bundesliga-ready
According to his own statement, the 56-year-old is aiming for a squad size of 22 or 23 players – also because the Frankfurters are not internationally represented and therefore less rotate. With Niels Nkounkou, Jean-Mattéo Bahoya and Junior Dina Ebimbe, some potential candidates for the cut list got the chance in the training camp and in Mannheim game time.
Meanwhile, Michy Batshuayi, Noel Futkeu and Jessic Ngankam were not even allowed to join the training camp in Grassau and instead played for the U21 of Eintracht in a test match against SV Wehen Wiesbaden on Saturday.
Hütter clarifies: Baum stays
One who was still considered a possible departure at the start of the season is now firmly planned for the squad by Hütter. "Elias Baum will stay at Eintracht Frankfurt", said the coach about the right-back, who performed well in Mannheim and prepared the only goal of the day by Jonathan Burkardt.
Baum had only made five substitute appearances in the previous season. In the previous year, he had convinced at his loan in Elversberg.
Squad decisions
After the test match in Mannheim, the players will now have three days off – time to recover. However, work will continue around the team. Also, because Hütter confirmed at the edge of the game in Mannheim what is clear in the Eintracht environment: that there will still be some departures. "I don't want a 30-man squad", so Hütter's clear statement. "That means we have to cut a few from the list. That's not easy and not fun."
