Eintracht Frankfurt as a Possibility for Noah Atubolu

Noah Atubolu, 24, remains at SC Freiburg but has no playing time. Coach Julian Schuster says Eintracht Frankfurt could be an option for him. Atubolu was the first-choice goalkeeper for Freiburg over the last three seasons but has not played since the summer. Schuster commented after the 5-1 win in the first DFB-Pokal round against Fortuna Düsseldorf: “Frankfurt is, of course, a very, very big club in Germany. Therefore it could be an option, then also to stand between the posts.” He also said after the 3-0 friendly against English Conference-League winner Crystal Palace that Atubolu could have a prospect at Eintracht Frankfurt. The coach emphasizes that Frankfurt is a large club that might offer him playing time.

Successor Mio Backhaus

Freiburg has already signed Mio Backhaus from league rival Werder Bremen to secure the goalkeeper position. Schuster explains that the team is constantly in contact and that Backhaus is regularly integrated into training. “We are always in exchange and integrate him into training, then accordingly into the team. That is our duty, our obligation, and also when someone is under contract and does that,” he said.
