Record DFB-Pokal Victory
On 25 August 2024, Eintracht Frankfurt faced Oberliga club SC St. Tönis at the Grotenburg-Stadion in Krefeld. The match ended 11-0, with Frankfurt already leading 10-0 at halftime - a new record for the club in the DFB-Pokal.

The first goal came in the 10th minute when Can Uzun curled a right-side corner and Jonathan Burkardt headed it in. In the following minutes Robin Koch increased the score to 2-0, followed by Burkardt’s headers for 4-0 and Uzun’s for 5-0. Younes Ebnoutalib netted the 3-0, while Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab added the 3-0 (17). Burkardt scored again for 4-0, 6-0 and 10-0 with three more headers. Elias Baum and Mario Götze each scored in the 44th and 45th minutes. In the second half, Fares Chaibi sealed the 11-0 final in the 87th minute. Adi Hütter, who left the bench in the 39th minute, commented: “That was a well-deserved win - even at this level.” Mario Götze added: “Our quick set-pieces were gold-worth.”
Outlook and Transfers
With the win, Eintracht earns 456 377 EUR for the second round. The team also faces the Bundesliga opener against Union Berlin on 29 August, with the absence of Hugo Larsson and Ritsu Doan - both dealing with muscular injuries - to be considered. In the transfer market, Freiburger Noah Atubolu is discussed as a potential new number one; the expected transfer fee of 15-20 million EUR poses a challenge. Additionally, 26-year-old Frenchman Lilian Brassier from Stade Rennes is in talks for a defensive role. 31-year-old Ellyes Skhiri is leaving Eintracht after 82 top-flight appearances and moving to 1. FC Cologne, with the transfer fee around two million euros.
